RPS-X1 Reusable Plate System

Cost-Saving Alternative to Conventional CTP
Text, drawings and photos to be printed are imaged onto printing plates, and the plates are used once and then discarded. With the RPS-X1, printers can erase, write, rewrite and reuse printing plates up to 20 times without sacrificing quality. The RPS-X1 will reduce press costs, eliminate press downtime normally required while the plates are being imaged, and enhance the work environment for printing plate production.

This system delivers the same level of quality as conventional computer-to-plate systems. It employs a spray-on polymer coating and removable sleeves prepared offline. The aluminum plate serves as a bed for the coating film. Printable images are created on the film by direct digital imaging. After printing, the film is washed from the plate, and a new polymer coating is applied.

The rewritable plate has a life of 100,000 impressions per job. Mitsubishi is developing technologies to deliver 50 image rewritable cycles and 500,000 impressions per job.
